North Cascades Institute seeks to inspire close relationships with nature through direct experiences in the natural world. Our mission is to conserve and restore Northwest environments through education. Since 1986, we have helped connect people, nature and community through science, art, literature and the hands-on study of the natural and cultural history of the Pacific Northwest.
North Cascades Environmental Learning Center, field campus of the Institute, is a hub of discovery for all ages in the heart of North Cascades National Park on the shores of Diablo Lake. The public is invited to stay with us year-round through our diverse programs offerings, including Base Camp, Family Getaways, Group Rentals, Diablo Downtimes and the dozens of workshops and retreats we offer each year. The Silver LEED-certified campus features three guest lodges, each one with shared gender-specific bathrooms, as well as trails, a dock, classrooms and library. Delicious, healthy meals incorporating local and organic foods are provided in our lakeside dining hall. Our facilities and local trails are ADA accessible.
Here you can explore cascading creeks, pristine peaks, wildflower meadows and old-growth forests. Better still, you can join a community dedicated to the idea that learning together inspires stewardship.
